Cup Final Day
Greatest club competition on the planet.

Anybody else gagging with enthusiasm?

No? Me neither - they've fucking all but killed it*.

* - I'd say this even if we were it.

Should ALWAYS be the very last game of the season, 3pm Saturday kick-off, simultaneous Saturday 3pm kick-off semis, too. Replays until settled or you drop for EVERY round.

It's a KNOCK-OUT competition - plan your schedules accordingly, you money-grabbing cunts.

Re: Cup Final Day
Research apparently shows that more people watch at 5pm than 3pm
Tv also determines that the semi finals are separate times

I think most fans would prefer a traditional kick off time for the final but I can understand the semi finals being separated
Endless replays are gone forever and all replays will go eventually. The endless growth of the European competitions have ensured that & it’s mainly the popularity of the Champions league that has pushed the FA Cup back & back.
I still wish we were playing today though

Against Watford

The best thing about the FA Cup this season has been BT Sports ‘Don’t mug off the cup’ ads.

Helps you going out to the mall with the family of an afternoon before watching it on your cell while in a fast food joint or ice cream parlour.

Most appealing thing about today, watching the massive thunder cunt that is Troy Deeney being gutted.

Re: Cup Final Day
Id like to see Watford win in the last minute, with Elton John collapsing with a heart attack, carried off in a stretcher, and the crowd singing 'Don't go breaking our heart,Elt.'

Re: Cup Final Day
They were saying Elton won’t be there as he is doing a concert in Denmark or somewhere.
Which is extraordinary
His tour manager needs a Rocket, man.

Re: Cup Final Day
To be fair to his manager, he did apologise. The hardest thing he's had to do, apparently.

Too subtle?

If Elton went he’s probably get chucked out for persistent standing anyway..

Re: Cup Final Day
When I was growing up the nation virtually stopped for cup final day, now who really gives a flying fuck about it? Only Watford and City fans, probably.

Even Elton can't be arsed, well he can but in another way!

Our vets football presentation day...pub in Rayleigh roped off a section for us...starting at 4...think the majority of us will be having a couple of quid on Watford to cause the mother of upsets...

I think i’ve got from that post, he’s going to take a nap in a Walt Mitty style and dream about being in America.

Re: Cup Final Day
Cup final day has shrunk from a thing of national interest to the point that it is only eagerly looked forward to by the two sets of fans involved.

Times change.

Re: Cup Final Day
To me it's because of the saturation of football on telly and the fact that Sky make out that just about every match they show is about as important as any match ever. That and all channels making such occasions out of bog standard Champions League nights that that also detracts from the spectacle.

I’ve got a ticket in the Citeh end, I am going purely as a football fan and someone who would love to see Troy Deeney burst into tears at full time.

Re: Cup Final Day
Champions League football has blown it away
Was always a bigger game that the European Cup final and now its an after thought.
Once it gets to the quarter finals and all the little teams are out its just a consolation prize for Man City or one of the other top 6

Hopefully Deeney gets sent off and City win 5-0
